Beirut-based visual artist Maysam Hindi is currently completing her masters degree in Fine Arts at the Lebanese University. Life experience is a common theme in her work, she believes that any conscious representation of the self whether camouflaged or not can be classified as a self-portrait. In Hindi’s words she is “methodically processing the facets of her existence by painting”. Her self-portraits are the acts of self- creation, the documentation of her questioning her own identity. This body of work symbolizes what the artist has lost a long time ago, portraying the only thing that persisted which is the pale woman and the vivid plastic objects.
Aside from her own artistic practice, Hindi is also a Script Writer and Art Director for a series of short documentaries produced by Friedrich- Naumann (FNF) and currently the Assistant Director and the Communication Manager at Mina Image Centre.
